We are proud to announce our sponsorship of the James Blake Foundation 2020 Playing for a Cure Shootout Tournament. This wonderful charity tournament takes place virtually on Monday, September 14th at 5 pm PT / 8 pm ET, one day following the completion of the 2020 tennis U.S. Open, and will raise funds to benefit the Thomas Blake, Sr. Fund at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. This tournament is open to the public and you can register to play by heading to the link here!

James will be hosting a poker shootout tournament alongside professional poker players Jeff Gross and Phil Hellmuth to raise funds for his foundation.¬†Past attendees have included Paul Pierce, Serena Williams, Sam Querrey, Irv Gotti, Marc Lasry, Dom Moore among others who joined distinguished members of the sports and business world to raise funds for the Foundation.¬†The poker tournament donation buy-in is $1,000, with a $2,500 ticket available to “sit at” the VIP Table. Players will participate in “shoot-out” poker tournament where they compete against opponents on their table to secure a victory. Winners of each table will advance to a Final Table to play against each other and professional poker players Jeff Gross and Phil Hellmuth. The poker game will take place online on a private poker platform. Players will be able to observe not only their table but all others in action as they play down to a champion.

Since 2008, the James Blake Foundation has supported the efforts of the Thomas Blake Sr. Memorial Research Fund, which was launched in memory of James’ father and is dedicated to the early detection of cancers commonly discovered in later stages. The Foundation invests vital seed money at the leading-edge of science: speeding the most promising work and shortening the time it takes to turn lab discoveries into better treatments for cancer patients. Proceeds raised by the foundation support the Thomas Blake, Sr. Fund at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).

“At Lasso, we also move with compassion and jump at the opportunity to support our friends and our heroes in medicine whenever and wherever possible,” said Jared Verteramo, President of Lasso. “We are honored to sponsor such an incredible event and thank James Blake, the James Blake Foundation and WCPG, a leading cause agency, for their incredible efforts.”
